About UsThe town of Arlington, lying within unincorporated Shelby County, had been a low-population area since its establishment in 1883. However, in the 1990s, the area experienced rapid growth. As a result, the school system became overloaded, with Bolton High School in particular being over capacity. Community developers decided another high school was inevitable and broke ground for the school, finishing just in time for the first class of 9th graders to enroll in 2004. Originally, the land the school currently sits on was used as grounds for Arlington Municipal Airport, which was closed officially in 2002

Who We Are |
The AHS Orchestras are comprised of students from all walks of life in the student body of Arlington, TN. Whether it be freshman joining us for the first time or upperclassmen who are well-acquainted with our halls, all are welcome in the orchestras. All it takes is an attitude of excellence and a want to be better than you were when you first arrived. Currently, Arlington has two orchestras: the Symphony orchestra, comprised of mostly upperclassmen, contains string, brass, woodwind, and percussion players and plays standards in the high school symphonic repertoire as well as new compositions. The string orchestra is our younger orchestra comprised only of string instruments, and focuses on pedagogy and string instrument performance basics.

Our History |
The orchestra was founded in 2006 by director Doug Phillips. Ms. Cody Price took over for one year from 2014-2015. From 2015-2018, Mr. Zack Corpus assumed the helm with Ms. Price taking the middle school orchestra on full time. A new director will be welcomed in the fall of 2018. Both orchestras have a history of excellence, achieving superior ratings in both sight-reading and performance at WTSBOA Concert Festival.
